  • Pregnancy ultrasound scans
  • Birth preparedness and birth-plan counselling
  • 24-hour labour and delivery care by skilled birth attendants
  • Respectful maternity care: privacy, choice of companion, clear communication
  • Postnatal care for mother and baby
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Referral for complicated pregnancies to Vihiga County Referral Hospital

Frequently asked questions

When should I start antenatal visits?

As early as possible — ideally within the first 12 weeks. The World Health Organization recommends at least eight antenatal contacts during pregnancy.

What should I bring when I come to deliver?

Your ID, SHA details, antenatal (Mother & Child Health) booklet, clothes and wraps for the baby, sanitary pads and personal items. See our Visiting Information page for the full list.

Can my partner or a relative stay with me during labour?

Yes. We welcome one birth companion of your choice.

What happens if there is a complication?

Our team is trained to recognise and manage danger signs and will arrange rapid referral when needed.
